Rukungiri Municipal Council has officially launched the construction of two key projects under the Health Department, aimed at improving public health services and environmental management in the municipality.

The projects include the construction of a 250-meter perimeter fence at the Ruhega Garbage Dumping Site, undertaken by Isheba Contractors Limited at a cost of Shs 30,571,086, and the first phase of fencing at Rukungiri Health Centre IV, covering 220 meters at Shs 29,977,900.

The launch ceremony was led by Deputy Resident District Commissioner Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongom and attended by the Deputy Town Clerk, Deputy Mayor, Principal Medical Officer, Heads of Departments, and other political leaders.

Speaking at Rukungiri Health Centre IV, Ahimbisibwe emphasized the importance of proper monitoring and accountability in government projects:

“Technical staff must regularly visit project sites and stay involved to ensure work is done well. Contractors should carefully study the Bills of Quantities before starting work, and all stakeholders must work with commitment, honesty, and patriotism.”

The Deputy Town Clerk, Justus Ampeire, highlighted the need for continuous supervision from start to finish to ensure quality workmanship and proper use of public funds:

“Teamwork and the involvement of local leaders and community members promote transparency and ownership,” he said.
